Ms. Renee Gu graduated from Peking University Law School with LLB and LLM. In the 1990s, as one of the youngest judges at a higher people’s court in China, Renee was selected by the Supreme People’s Court to Columbia University to conduct a comparative study of the Chinese and American judicial systems as a visiting scholar. Then she earned her second LLM degree in New York University.
Renee has extensive experience in cross-border dispute resolution and cross-border M&A. Before joining Grandway, she served as a judge at Shanghai Higher People’s Court for many years and practiced in the Hong Kong branch of a global leading law firm for nearly 20 years, providing legal services for many well-known multinational companies, financial institutions and government agencies at home and abroad. She is skilled in cross-border litigation, arbitration, mergers and acquisitions for clients in Mainland China, Hong Kong, the United States, Europe and Australia.
Renee is one of a few practicing lawyers with qualifications in Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and New York State in the industry. She is also an arbitrator of the Shanghai Arbitration Commission.
Renee received the Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2012 by Euromoney Legal Media Group, a well-known European magazine and publishing agency.
